View Full Version : Correctly-typed captions with skipped spaces in Preview but not in Edit

I am trying to order my 87-page book before the Nov. 7 deadline for the Fall discount, but am concerned that most of my captions are appearing in Preview mode with 2 or more of the words running together, missing the spaces I DID type between all words. In Edit/Make Book mode, my captions DO appear correctly with the spaces between words. The e-mailed suggestion from one of your support people was to download & re-install Bookmaker off of My Publisher's website (rather than Costco's 2.2 version, which was what I used), and go back and RE-TYPE all the captions that have missing spaces when viewed in Preview!!! There must be more than 200 captions involved, and every one of them has at least one case of a missing space between 2 words when viewed in Preview!! Also, if I download Bookmaker directly from My Publisher (on top of my current Costco 2.2), I assume I won't get a Costco discount when I order?
I was previously told that as long as the captions are correct in the editing box, they will print correctly even if there are missing spaces between words in Preview....so I've had conflicting information and want to get it straight before I download my book, but I DON'T want to have to retype all my captions. BTW, NONE of them were cut-and-pasted in from other software, all were typed in directly, within Bookmaker 2.2, Costco version.
I am also confused about coupon codes, particularly using the fall discount (whether with Costco discount or not), along with a coupon credit I was issued for some flipped photos in a book I ordered last year, and decided not to re-order a 3rd time when the 2nd try still had one flipped photo. So I have a credit for $225 which I was hoping to use for more than one book, and have been furiously working on my current book to get it ready in time so I'd get the Fall discount and thus use less of my $225 credit for it, but there seems to be no provision on your purchase page for more than 1 coupon code (one for the Fall discount, for ordering on or before 11/07, the other one for my unused credit). I have been told I can't get the Costco discount and use my credit coupon (though I don't understand why, since the original book for which I received the credit due to errors, was ordered with the Costco member's discount). But I should still be able to get the Fall discount and use my credit--assuming I can get a satisfactory definitive answer about and caption Preview missing-spaces issue, and finally download & order my book (will the Fall discount still apply tomorrow, the 7th?). I assume the TRAVEL 241 and HOME 241 coupons can't be used along with the Fall discount--or can they? Which coupons/discounts (assume at least the Fall one, and Costco Members', if not also one of the other 2?) CAN be used along with my $225 credit coupon code, so I'll have enough credit left over for another book?

Hi Lastmate -

According to your history which I looked up, the reason you were given that credit was that your order was actually for $448 and your coupon was split in 2 so you could use it more easily, as per your request. You were given this amount of money since you used the Costco coupon and even though you only paid around $225, we wanted you to have the retail cost of the books. Therefore by asking for a discount on top of the retail price coupon we gave you would be double discount. Unfortunately there is no way our shopping cart can handle 2 coupon codes.

That being said, regarding your caption issue go ahead and place your order so you can get it in prior to coupon expiration, and if there are caption issues, we can credit you back for those orders and get to the bottom of the bug, if we find there is one.

Redownloading will not help in this case. As long as you did not copy/paste your captions in from Microsoft Word or something like that, you don't need to retype them.

I hope this is helpful!

Sincerely,
MyPublisher
