Ever since our daughter was born, I've been looking for a good way to print the photos we have taken of her. Since I dislike scrapbooking (seriously...why all the fussy stuff?), I figured I would just have to print photos and put them in albums. My daughter is 4, and I was able to keep up on her pictures until she was about four months old. From there on out I printed photos for Grandma who lives out of state, but I had nothing of my own to show for the wonderful photos we have of her. Then I discovered mypublisher!

Okay...we have literally taken a minimum of 15,000 photographs of this kid! I have a box of discs that contain her pictures. What does a person do when they have to sort through that many photos to document four years? You set aside some time and use this resource! I was able to create one book for each year of her life. It was a bit hard to consolidate it all into 100 pages, which is the maximum allowed, but somehow I was able to do it. My books have ranged from 400-700 photos per book, and I can finally say I am caught up on this part of our family's history. I used the storyteller books so I could not only show the images, but also remark on all the fun of watching her grow. I imagine how wonderful it would have been if my mom had a resource like this when I was a kid! I would treasure her thoughts and musing about my childhood...not to mention all the photos.

I could not have waded through this task if I hadn't found mypublisher! I don't see myself printing very many photos again in the future...it is so much easier, sharp, and more beautiful to have them printed in these books!

My next project...consolidating the hundreds of photos from my parents' childhood photos and ancestors' photos. I never shy away from a challenge! :)

As I stated in my other post, it would sure be cool to see a picture of samples of the books you describe.

Sounds like you did something similar to what I am working on for my daughters birthday?

I know your child will love it, I just went back and started reading entries I wrote 13 years ago, and I know my daughter will cherish these comments. Being able to look at and read them as she grows up is truly a precious gift.

I also have a 6 and 10 year old son, and unfortunately did not journal so much when they were little because I was so busy with all three of them. :o(

But they are still young enough to do what you described, documenting them year by year with photos.

Thanks for sharing.

I'm new at this, actually very underqualified. I'm just trying to teach myself how to put pictures on line or together on disc because its' a much better way to store them. We just finished a large project for a client that needs to remain unnamed but I'd like to document its' progress from start to finish.
I don't see any difference from what you tried to do with your child. It needs to be progressive and finally have an ending.
Do you have any tips for a newbie that needs alot of help?
Thx, Trina

I have created 4 book with MP in the last 2 years. My advice to anybody trying to go through 1000s of photos is - every day take one folder of photos (if digital or scanned) and make a new folder inside it. Drag and drop your favorite photos in them. Do not think about the number you have accumilate right now.

I do that with any vacation my husband and I take. We both have cameras and are quite good at it. My husband more than me. During our 10 day Europe trip we took an average of 150 photos per day. I spent 7 days choosing the best and my most favorite photos and ended with just 150 photos and used 103 in a MP book. Still waiting for the book, but from previous experience I know they will turn out real good.
