I used large images (all over 4MB) to create a layout in PowerPoint. After I save the slide as a jpg, I do end up with a size of 3160x2440, but the file is only 600kB or less. I don't think that's enough, and I'm not sure how to make it save as a larger file. Any suggestions?

There are a lot of people who will tell you not to use Powerpoint for a lot of reasons. There are also a lot of people who have used Powerpoint successfully.
The trick seems to be altering the size of your page in Powerpoint (through page setup) to 45" by 36". Powerpoint uses a resolution of ~100 dpi, so by making your page about three times bigger than you need it to be, you'll end up around 300dpi for printing.

Thanks, but that's just it--I DO have the PowerPoint slide specified to three times the size of the MP page and it's still coming out as super tiny. Can anyone who has used PP successfully tell me how big their file sizes were?

Marti of this forum uses PowerPoint exclusively for her books. She has given some good tips but if you make your page as large as you do and the size is small, try it in your full bleed page and see. I did one that I just knew wouldn't work and it printed beautifully. I don't think she enlarges her canvas to three times either. Maybe she will see this and offer some help. Your 600kb will probably print just fine.

Here is a link to the thread about PP books. Marti even gave a link to her book.

Thanks Cruiser! I would love confirmation from Marti, asmit4, or any other PP people about the file size.
