I've made about 8 MP books already, but I'm working on my first with the new software, so I've never done a book jacket before. This forums have been helpful in looking at examples, but I have a question- what text do people put on the flaps? You cant see text even zoomed in on the shares.
There is significant space for text, and I usually just do pictures, as my books are all travel based pictures (though NOT using the travel template.)
I'd appreciate ideas.

I usually type something about the trip or about the picture I inserted on the flap. I go to the internet and do research and maybe put some history of the area we visited. I do the same in the back flap. Or, you could use the flap to dedicate your book to someone or a place you have been.
One of my books was about our South Pacific Cruise 2004. I put a picture of a small girl from one of the islands there and wrote something about the children we had met on our journey.

Hi~
Totally agree with Cruiser.
The flaps seem to be an opportunity to say that extra little something, especially if your book is mostly photos.
Great place for a dedication, a poem, special note to the grandkids, etc.
It also adds a finishing touch to the book, making it seem more like a good-looking coffeetable book you'd buy at your local bookstore.
Anyway, that's just my 2 cents.

Or a little note and photo about the author/photograher!

Mypublisher, did you all ever get the barcode issue fixed where it covered the photo on the back flap in at least a couple of the templates (Just Photos and Travel)

For our wedding I put a listing of all the participants on the backflap and a listing of all the locations (church, 2 photo locations, and reception) on the front flap.
For a vacation- I would maybe find a quote about that particular place such as Paris- We'll always have Paris- I've seen that one used before. Or I'd list the dates of the trip, and the locations in the book, maybe who went on the trip.

On the back flap, I usually put a picture of myself and a little explanation about me as the author of the book, my thoughts about the contents, the date I created the book, and my location at the time. If you look at bookstore books, you'll usually find that the back flap is reserved for information about the author, so that's where I got the idea in the first place.

I just finished a book journaling a family trip to Russia this past summer. It was the first time I tried the book jacket. I did a Deluxe Book, my favorite by far, and the jacket was STUNNING. I haven't tried it with the Classic, but I put general comments about the trip on the inside flaps. I talked about the importance of the trip for us, as we were visiting my wife's family, on the front flap. On the back flap, I invited the person looking at the book to take in the sights, sounds, and smells and to try and imagine being there. I wanted them to experience the journey through the pictures.
On the back, I put on of my favorite pictures of my daugher and her grandfather, and commented to that effect.
I had not idea until I was finished and finalizing the cover that I was able to incorporate so much into it. It really make the book look like you took it off the Photography shelf at a fine bookstore. You won't be disappointed :-)
