so, i created a deluxe album and it turned out really nice. i love it. however, i ordered a pocket book using the same book file and the photos turned out grainy. it really didn't look great.
so, the question is, do i seriously have to change the size of all the deluxe photos to be compatible with the pocketbook.
i was under the impression that i could order a pocket book version of my deluxe album and it would be of same photo quality. was i wrong?
kind of disappointed by this.

Hi da_n_ja -
It really depends on how large your images are...approximately how many Mb per page are they?

I ordered a Pocketbook first before I bought the Deluxe, as a "test". The pictures are grainy, especially the faces of people, they are almost cartoonish. The landscape, plants, background is sharp though.
Is there a huge difference between the pocket book and the deluxe? I'm afraid to order books if they will all turn out grainy like the pocket book did.

My only pocket book turned out great. The printed pictures were a bit lighter than the bookshop copy but take a look. The lightness was my fault.

Cruiser: Your book is beautiful. However, it has nearly all landscapes. My book has landscapes which turned out great, but it was a wedding book, so it has lots of faces and people in my pictures. It was the people who turned out grainy.

This is the only paperback book I have ordered. I am currently working on one of our two grandsons so I will let you know when I get it how it turned out.

I've heard that MP is quick to respond, but it's been a full day since I sent a private message and a half day since I posted on this site... just wondering if there is an "official" answer.

Hi LauraG -
Well, what I've learned from experience is that what you see is generally what the image contains. Can you please try opening one of the images on your computer, and zoom in on something...take a look around the edges to see if it appears pixelated or kind of smooth along the edges. Try a bouquet or something along those lines. If things are pretty clear when you zoom in a lot on screen, it should print well. If when zooming in it looks pixelated, it's that your images are not high resolution enough. Let me know what you find...I can also contact you offline after you respond and then you can send me one of your images. Please check that your images are 300 dpi as well.
Let me know your thoughts...
Sincerely,
MyPublisher

Before I use a picture, I zoom in at 100% or actual pixel size in Photoshop. If the picture appears grainy or noisy, I won't use it. If it is the only picture I have and I really want to use it, I use Neat Image to reduce the noise. You have to be careful using noise removal software because you can remove more detail than you want removed. Some pictures just can't be improved.

LauraG said just the people's faces were grainy, not the whole photo - how is that possible? I would have thought if the pictures was taken out of focus that the WHOLE pictures would be grainy and blurry.
And I looked at the book she gave the link to, the pictures look perfect there. If they look good when you create the book, how can you know they will be grainy when they print?????

Hi abczoo,
I left you a private message regarding your York Photo book and a MyPublisher jacket. I thought since you were on this post you might see this message sooner.
Thanks,
Marti

I looked again... the WHOLE picture is grainy. It is just most noticable on the people.

Have you looked at your image in someplace other than BookMaker? Please try to zoom in and view it in an alternate viewer to see whether the image is high enough resolution.

I just received three copies of a paperback that I ordered for Christmas gifts. The pictures were absolutely perfect. This little book had the best quality of any of the books I have made. I used 2 mb to 7 mb pictures post-processed in Photoshop and darkened them some because my other books printed too light. There was no grainy effect in the faces of the children and some were close ups. I would post a link but since I'm not sure the parents would approve, I can't do it. But, take my word for it...I'm impressed.
This will be my last book for awhile since we are leaving soon on a 23 day cruise. I'll make another book on our return. I'm also scanning old negatives and slides in hopes of making books of past trips.
