What do you mean by a transparent layout? You mean a full bleed image with text on top of it?

Thanks for the example! That's done quite easily in Photoshop ny changing the "Opacity" of the layer representing the background image. The smaller the Opacity percentage, the lighter the image will appear on the page. The smaller images in front of the background image in your example were in their own "layers," at 100% Opacity. And when the image was then "Flattened," you wouldn't see any of the background through these 100% Opaque smaller images.

If you print a similar image on white pages, then you should have no problems. But if you print on gray or colored pages, then you may also want to place a pure white background layer behind the entire "background image," to keep the page color from showing through.
