Hi,
I made a deluxe book online and when I received it all the pics were grainy. Customer service told me the pics had too high of megapixels. So, I e-mailed a picture with properties closer to what they recommend. They said it still wasn't good. Can someone please tell me the properties of a picture they used that came out great in a deluxe book. Please include Dpi, resolution and megapixels.
Thank you so much.
Ellen

When processing my pictures, I keep them under 7mb at 350 dpi. I process all my pictures in Photoshop and resize until I get a reasonable size. Most of mine are in the area of 3 to 4 mb. The resolution isn't as important as the file size I've realized. Here is a link to another discussion on this topic:

If your picture has a blue line around it, I've been told not to worry, it should print ok but if the picture is more than 7mb, you might have a problem with pixilation. I've made a Deluxe book and most of my pictures were in the 1.5 to 5 mb and they all printed fine. I have made a Classic book with the same size and it printed fine.

Thanks Cruiser -

I've also contacted ElleBelle1 offline to see what we can do to solve this problem.

hi ellebelle, I just checked my book I ordered online (It should arrive this Saturday) and some of my pictures have a red line around the photo. Did yours turn out REALLY grainy??? Now I am worried mine will be too.

Were you able to get a refund or exchange on your book?

thanks, pam

Hi Pam -

Chances are that if you have a red line around the image it can look blurry and pixelated. Were your images high resolution?

I can't emphasize enough that you need a high resolution when you are printing photos. 300 dpi works ok. If you are pubishing via the internet, 72 is more than enough. That's why, when you try to print something from a web site, it prints about 1 inch.

My question to the forum is, do we have a limit as to file size on pages? I'm doing the large format wedding album.

I had all my pages laid out in Photoshop for MPIX - only to find out that they can't handle anything larger than 3mg. Even then, it took 2 days to find it out. I also realize now, that they seem to communicate like techs who are located in India. Molly and Matt seemed capable of telling me that I couldn't use firewalls (which I never use), and that was about all. No help. As it turns out, Costco offers more and is less expensive! Yeah!
