View Full Version : Another full page bleed question

The page gutter and bleed that bookmaker implies is different from what I was expecting.

For a deluxe hardcover, I'm creating full-page images measuring:
14.63in x 11.3in at 350dpi (5121px by 3955px)

To avoid un-intentional clipping along the edges, I have seen mypublisher say there is an 1/8in to 1/4in bleed (distance from the edge to not put important content), but I haven't found the approximate bleed on all sides of left and right pages explicitly defined.

So, to be as centered as possible, I'm visualizing a thin rectangle printed against the edge of the final page. I'm not TRYING to do this, since it would be fruitless and crazy, I'm just visualizing it to aid in proper centering.

Which APPROXIMATE bleed measurements, on the average, are most centered and closest to the visible page edge?

Vertical Measurements
1.) top .125in bottom .125in
2.) top .25in bottom .25in

Left Page Horizontal Measurements
1.) left .125in right .125in
2.) left .25in right .25in
3.) left .375in right .375in
4.) left .125in right .25in
5.) left .125in right .375in
6.) left .25in right .375in

Right Page Horizontal Measurements
1.) left .125in right .125in
2.) left .25in right .25in
3.) left .375in right .375in
4.) left .25in right .125in
5.) left .375in right .125in
6.) left .375in right .25in

Or maybe a different set of magic numbers?

My first guess was to use:
vertical 1, left horizontal 5, right horizontal 5

But a couple users have mentioned using something more like:
vertical 2, left horizontal 3, right horizontal 3
