MyPublisher Forums,
Several weeks ago, I downloaded MyPublisher 2.2PC, installed it and began work on a 90+ page book that I intended to give as a gift to my husband for his 30th birthday, only a few days away at this point.
The reason I am writing is because I can no longer open my book to finalize and upload. I have spent over a hundred hours working on this project, so you can understand my concern at this point; I hope someone has an idea to try to determine a solution to my problem. I'll try to provide as much detail to get things on track:
** WHEN THE PROBLEM STARTED: **
Last Thursday night around 6:30pm, I was working within MyPublisher on the (now broken) book. The program began running slowly so I would save constantly. MyPublisher would periodically crash/not respond after several actions. In some cases, I'd need to force end the program but I was always able to re-open the book to where I left off.
However, after one of these "crashes"/forced quits, the book would not reopen and has not since.
** STEPS TAKEN TO RESOLVE: **
I wanted to isolate whether the program was corrupt or if it was my actual book file(s). I backed up my book files located in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\MyPublisher to C:/bookBackup. I then uninstalled MyPublisher, deleted the entire folder in Application Data and reinstalled MyPublisher 2.2 PC. This fresh reinstall of MyPublisher opened and I was able to create a test book. However, when I replaced the "books.xml" and all the Application Data files to this new installation, I was back to application crash upon open of the "Ryan's 30th Birthday" book. Thus, the corruption/error has to do with the specific book, not the program or my computer.
I also tried to clear out the ".undo" file, which had grown to over 8Mb. Even clearing this to 0bytes didn't help.
** ANTICIPATED SOURCE OF PROBLEM: **
As mentioned, the problem lies in the corrupt book file (blahblahGUID.xml). I'm hoping there is some way to "clean" the book definition file so I won't have to abandon my many many hours put into this project.
THANK YOU for taking the time to assist me. Please point me in the right direction. As mentioned, I've already uninstalled/reinstalled (backing up all book data first) with no luck. I'm happy to call in or pay for additional support if needed as this problem represents over a hundred hours of effort! Thank you in advance!
