I can select about Bookmaker from the Help menu and quick start guide. No other option brings anything else up.

Save as function does nothing... So am I to assume that the save function does anything?

Where are the files saved to?

This software is pretty junky. It is all some sort of Java based software?

When are photos uploaded? It would make sense to have an option to upload the pictures uploading while you are working on the next page to save time rather than have them done all at the end.

Actually, while there are improvements to the software that could (and should) be made, it's a pretty good piece of software. Easy to use (except the uploading issues that some people are experiencing).

It's not a Java application (fortunately). The basic workflow is you create your book on your computer, save it locally and then, when finished, the entire book is uploaded.

IMHO, I know it seems like good idea to upload each page after you are done, but that would only be practical if you were certain that you didn't have any changes to be made afterwards. If you do change a page, you would have to re-upload it and then hope/expect the system to know that you were re-uploading an existing page instead of uploading a new page. Then, if you move pages around in your book, you would have to let the system know that, too. The amount of time it would cost making changes would, most likely, exceed any immediate time savings you have by not uploading an entire book at the end.

As for the location of the files, are you using a Mac or PC?

Also, you didn't say if you started a new book yet. Most of those controls will not be available until you have a book open. If you can provide some more information, that would help.

Hi Kieran,

The files are saved to your hard drive.
Have you tried selecting "File" and then "New Book" to start the process? You do not need to upload photos until you have completed your book and then you upload the book when you go to purchase it.
We find people prefer this so the book making process is faster and does not require time to refresh each time a change is made. Plus you do not need to upload any photos that you do not end up using in your book.
