I had been trying to use the "Travel" Book Style in BookMaker v2.2 as my platform to build up the photo album. Unlike the Bestseller Book Style where every photo frames are rectangular and straight, the Travel Book Style has titled frames, or a small square frame on the full-page frame. However, whenever I try to place my photos into the tilted frame, such as some of the 2-photo page layouts contain one titled photo frame and one square photo frame, I can clearly see the chainsaw effect on the preview window, rendering my
photo in the tilted window are somewhat distorted. My photo are taken by Sony P-100 (old camera) with 2304*1728, 2592*1944 and 3072*2304, with 72 DPI in both horizontal and vertical, sRGB color. I wonder if it's only because of the LCD pixel distance causing this chainsaw problem on preview window, or will I see this zigzag issue too once
the album is printed out?

Because I'm in a hurry and not really good at photo post-processing, so I use ACDSee 6.0 to automatically auto-contrast and/or auto-color my photos, and I choose the one that has more natural color! I know if I use the auto-contrast function, some dark & gray details are lost due to the nature of pulling a higher contrast ratio to produce a more sharp image... do you think that's the reason causing me chainsaw on the titled image?? or do you guys recommend a better click-and-done photo enhancing tool?? Photoshop is somewhat hard to get a hand on for the beginner like me.... >_<

Another question is about the print out quality! Some suggest in this forum of MyPublisher.com that the best quality of full page in Deluxe Hardcover is achieved by using 15.25"×11.75" with 350 DPI, which means you will need a 5337-pixel x 4112-pixel. Even thought MyPublisher print out is only 175LPI, the 350DPI offers the system to produce the best result. Mmm... can you give me the link to the website that explains these things in detail... more geekish way^_^?? and does it mean my 2304*1728 to 3072*2304 photos will not be as vivid and clear as I wish it to be if I put those into the full page on Deluxe Hardcover?

Last question, do I need to resize my photos into 350DPI before I start building my photo album? because my largest photo is 3072*2304, which means only 8.77"x6.58" in 350DPI, so I guess I wont be able to have the best quality full-page print out using my current picture in deluxe hardcover!! So if resize is required, so i shall open a file 9"x6.8" with 350 DPI, then paste my photo onto this empty background, leaving a ~0.25" for margin!! Is this correct?

thanks once again for y'all help,
Brian Hsieh

Sorry about the typo... I mean "Tilted" Photo Frame, where you drag and drop your photo into! Not Titled Frame...>_<

I'm having the same problem - please help! Did you ever find out what is causing this and did it effect your printed book? Thanks.

Hi Everyone -

The Chainsaw issue is a non-issue because it is on screen only. Angled lines appear pixelated, stepped or chainsaw like because they are tilted. This DOES NOT happen when printed.

As for optimal photo quality. I recommend not changing any settings at all. Our software works best when you just drag in your own digital photos!

Sincerely,
