View Full Version : Font & size menu in 3.3
In the Storyteller format, if I choose a page layout with a long column (full height) text box, when I click to fill it, it opens, but the top line with font & size choices is hidden under the blue page header & I can only see the 2nd line with the bold, I , U , justificaton, indent etc choices, not the top font & size menu. If the page layout has a horizontal shaped text box, this isn't a problem, since there is plenty of room for the 2 lines when it "opens".
Is there a way to move this "toolbar" so both lines are visible in order to select font/size? Am I missing something here, maybe I've been staring at photos too long? I reinstalled the new 3.3 software 3x just in case, since I know that's often the recommendation when there are problems.
Nan,
I have this same problem and I have downloaded it at least another time if not more. I work around it by copying my text into Word, adjusting the font and size to my choice, and then pasting it back ---- but I shouldn't have to do that!
After spending the weekend on workarounds I've found: just as you say - copy from WORD but you can never verify exactly what font/size you have in MP. Another way: you can reformat the page temporarily to the horizontal box when you enter the text - then when done, click back on the vertical text (I find I often get a "too long" error, but I just click the vertical text open & close it again & it goes away). Lastly, I can almost get the pulldown boxes visible by clicking minus as much as you can on the bottom left in "make book" - but of course it's so small you can't read the text - but this is good for doublechecking your book for font/size.
Of course, we shouldn't have to do all this ...

If you go to the edit menu and uncheck "Zoom in for captions" it will stop automatically zooming, thus it won't accidentally zoom in too much and cutoff the text toolbar. Then when you go to another page you can turn it back on again.
We have a fix that should make it better, I'll let you know when it is posted.

The update has been posted.
By "the update has been posted" I assumed this meant I should reload the software which I did - & it came up 4.0.0.5120 (from 3.3 4950).
The problem still happens & I hope the 4.0 doesn't affect the book I just finished & am ready to upload for printing...

Nan,
That was correct just to re-download from the website to get the newest version. This version hasn't changed the file format so there shouldn't be any unexpected changes to your book from the previous version.

All,
What I need to know for people that this is still happening for is:
1) Which book style you are making (Pocket book, picture window book, or jacketed book)
2) If you are in one or two page view.
3) Your screen resolution.
4) The actual page layout you are using. Probably the best way to know which one for this is to show a screenshot of that page.
Depending on a combination of all these it may behave different.
Also to work around this you can still do the following:
If you go to the edit menu and uncheck "Zoom in for captions" it will stop automatically zooming, thus it won't accidentally zoom in too much and cutoff the text toolbar. Then when you go to another page you can turn it back on again.
The problem still shows with:
1) classic Storyteller - my 2 books are using picture window
2) either 1 or 2 page view - same problem
3) screen: 1024x768
4) Storyteller/1 photo portrait with vertical text along side
Now I'm using 4.0 Costco
I made a screen capture - do I need to email it somewhere?
BTW, the unchecking & checking of "Zoom in for captions" is a helpful workaround.
