View Full Version : Unwanted Duplicate Text

I am attempting to create a four page "foreward" to my book. My first and second page are fine. When I try to create the third page, it AUTOMATICALLY duplicates the text from the second page.

I "removed page" and then chose "add page" thinking this would solve it, choosing the page layout as "text only". It continues to duplicate the second page.

For another angle, I highlighted the text on the third page and erased it. It simultaneously erased the second page text.

No matter what I do -even creating a fourth page- it treats all the succeeding pages (marked "text only" in the page layout) as CLONES!

Sidebar, I am able to change the page format and create photo pages without any problem.

HELP!!

My first book was created on my Mac, and there were issues with that. My book was PERFECT in preview and I ordered two of them. They came in record time, but the photo on the cover was NOT centered. MyPublisher generously offered to replace them for free. However, since the problem was not evident on my side of the internet, I couldn't FIX it. I decided to recreate it on a PC, and am now running into THIS problem. I am afraid my coupon code for a FREE replacement will expire before I can resolve this.

Any explanations? Am I really just not2bright? ;-)

Hi not2bright -

If you tried to take the book file off your MAC and bring into a PC, that could be the source of your trouble. You can't export from Mac and bring into the PC. I'd recommend you start a new book. I've never seen that bug before but will certainly pass it onto the developers for further inspection.

Sincerely,

MyPublisher,

I just sent you a private message.

I didn't import it! I copied ALL my photos to be used, onto a disk, downloaded a new bookmaker application on the PC and COMPLETELY recreated it!

The Mac file has nothing to do with it... All I was going to attempt to do was use the FREE reorder code when it came time to purchase....

Rob, did your private message have to do with this issue? Just wondering... :)

I too am having the same problem. Using a PC every time I add text on a second page it duplicates the text from page 3. When I change it, it will delete the text in page 3. Did you find out how to fix the problem?

Thanks for the help!

I too had this problem. Spent HOURS trying to figure out what to do, and had all but given up. Suggest reinstalling the software (which is pretty quick, far quicker than saving a book, actually). Not an elegant solution I grant you, but it might work.

If you have Photoshop, you can create your text and save it as a jpeg file. Here is a link to a helpful suggestion by another forum user. I followed it and my two pages of full text was excellent in my printed book. Be sure and leave a good amount of left and right margins. I used the MyPublisher adjustments for the size and it worked fine.

Just want to chime in that I'm having the same problem: additional text pages beyond the title page are magically all the same. Edit one--they all change.

I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing this problem. I have alerted the MyPublisher tech team to look into since I have never heard of this happening before. Hopefully I will have a solution soon to post for you.

Sincerely,
MyPublisher

I am having the same problem with "text only" pages. Is there a solution?

We believe that this may be caused when a book is started in older version of BookMaker and then you continue to try to work on it in the new version. We are working on resolving it as quickly as possible. In the meanwhile, try changing the selected layout and then changing it back to the Text-only template. Does that help at all? I will be back in touch with a more permanent solution shortly.
Sincerely,

I had this same problem using 2.2. I deleted EVERYTHING off the hard drive, re-downloaded the software, and reinstalled. I had to start over but it worked.
