View Full Version : MyPublisher logo on finished product?

Hello friends!
I am new to MyPublisher & I was wondering if any of you who have ordered can answer a question for me...
Does the finished product have a MyPublisher logo printed anywhere on the book? If so is there an option to exclude this logo?
I prefer that my clients do not know where I purchase/make my books so they do not have the ability to see my mark up. :-)
Thanks a million!

There is a very small logo on the very last page of the book I ordered. You could put your information over it on a very nice, personalized label and affix it over the logo. I'm not sure if you can delete it or not from your order.

The Deluxe Hardcover version, I believe, doesn't have the logo. The Classic Hardcover does, but it's a small logo on the back page.
I would second the recommendation that you use nice, personalized labels to cover it. It's a cheap alternative and allows you to add valuable branding of your own to it.

We do include our logo in a small font type on the last page of our Classic Hardcover and Paperback PocketBooks. There is no branding included in the Deluxe Hardcover books.
The suggestions here to cover the logo if you wish are a great idea!

its good to know, as I am a photographer wanting to offer this to my clients as well. I dont want them to be able to see the mark up.

Why can't you just take the logo off? If I'm trying to give this product to my client, I will not be telling them where to print their own...if I'm giving this book to a friend, I'm going to take them to your site and show them how to make a book. What do you gain by advertising on my book? If you are assuming that only the pro's will be using the Deluxe, then you should offer the Deluxe with the "Deluxe" leather option...

As a potential "client and average joe" I find it offensive that you would want to deliberately hide the logo for purposes of monetary gain. I can completely understand not wanting the logo just b/c you want your logo on it instead but your reasoning is flawed.
If your work is that great, great enough for a couple to pay $500 for it, or 1K for it or 2K for it or whatever you are charging then knowing where the book came from shouldn't be an issue at all. What if they ask? Are you going to tell them?
The internet is a large place and I have the ability as a "client" to find out how much books are like azukabooks that are flushmout or whatever or any other style of book that my photographer would like us to consider buying.
Also, you best pray that your client doesn't have me as a friend b/c when she sees my book, I'll be glad to tell her what it truly cost, and I will gladly add that I spent probably 30 hours on it in total which may or may not save your butt....
I feel sorry for your clients, that you feel the need to "hide your markup"....if you spend hours on a book, then your markup is probably worth it. Your work should speak for itself, regardless of them knowing "the printer of the book".
On the contrary, I get the feeling that maybe you don't spend hours on the books and are just trying to make a fast buck. Maybe I'll get flamed for saying this, but heck, I've got my flame suit on so I don't really care :)

Hey Guys - We have logos on our classic books but not our deluxe books. Deluxe for leather is coming soon!
Sincerely,
MyPublisher

Good job... your book is really nice. This is from a designer.
My company design albums for busy photographers & some brides/grooms. We normally deal with high end flush mount leather albums & that we design in Photoshop. Your work looks better than some of the design firms I've seen around & you did that in PP.

I have to agree. I've never charged more than what the book cost me for the materials.
But I sure DO want MY name in the book for credit as I do most all of my work in PhotoShop with layers, fades, fonts, etc. - things just not possible in MyPublisher and their branding says "book published & designed by MyPublisher" is hardly ever a true assessment in my case as I've designed every page. They used to have a Professional option of not having it. I just make the back page white with MY logo on it. On occasion I've cut their last sleeve page out so my logo was seen, but I've always told the client where I get it printed. So I'm not worried about them finding out how much, or how little it cost. I'd challenge any of them to get the same result themselves since I know when and how to appropriately lighten photos for book printing using MyPublisher and with professional graphic art, they simply couldn't do what I do.....so I've never been questioned about costs and only work from referrals. Time is worth a WHOLE lot to people who have none.
Give MyPublisher credit for offering a good, affordable product that you think is good enough to use....why wouldn't they? Do you think people really think a 5x7 costs $15.00 or whatever photographers charge nowadays? Everyone knows their local drug store prints them for $1.99! But they're paying for a professional eye, their time and expertise.

Well said!
The only thing I would add is that it's appropriate to charge for your time in building the book, too.
If you spend 10 hours prepping the images, building the layout in Photoshop (or whatever program you use), and creating the book, there's no reason not to include that into what you charge. Your time is valuable, too.
Just my two cents!

Depends on which book you buy - the Classic Hardcover has a single logo on the back page. Easily covered :-)
