First - thanks to Cruiser for helping me out yesterday!! :)
After realizing I've made a lot of mistakes, I'm trying to go back and rescan what I've already scanned.... and once again, I'm confused!
I started out scanning everthing at 1200 dpi - thinking that the more dpi the better. I now know that it needs to be 300dpi.
I can go in and change it through my software, but I'm afraid I'll really mess up the images, since I'm leary about changing the height and width pixel sizes. They weren't consistant to begin with, for some reason - some 4 x 6's were as much as 7000 pixels in height!
So, if I'm to rescan most of them, should I pre-set the pixel height and width to 3225 x 2550 at 300 dpi? Does it matter if it's going to be a smaller photo on the page, not always a full bleed? And are these the specs to use if scanning a 4 x 6 or 5 x 7 that I'll end up wanting to use as full bleed (or almost so)?
I'm confused!! I have a couple 8 x 10's that I want to use as full bleed. Do I scan them at the same specs - The 3225 x 2550 that MP states?
I guess I want to know if there is a "standard" that I should be using for ALL photos I'm scanning. If I know one will be on a page of say 3 or 4 photos, do I use the same specs as for the full bleed. And, what of the ones that I scanned at 1200? Can they be used at all?? Can I just change the DPI in my software, and keep the pixel height and width? (usually about 3345ish x 2185ish) Some larger, some smaller, but all at 1200 dpi currently. How would I change them?
