Most of my pictures are 480 dpi. They look great in the book and even when shared they look great. I've just recently realized that the max for Mypublisher is 300dpi. So does Mypublisher automatically change them to 300 dpi or am I in trouble?

I have 2 photos that were emailed from a friend that are at 72 dpi. Should I ask her to upload them to Picasa so that the dpi will be higher? Will that work?

Thanks so much for any advice.

To ensure that your images are printed to our highest standards, it is crucial that they are saved and sized according to our recommended specifications.

--- FILE FORMAT ------------------------------------------------------

Your images must be saved as JPEG files (file ends in .jpg or .jpeg)

If you are scanning photos, follow the directions below to save your photos as jpegs:

- Scan the photo and select Save As from the File menu option:
- Select .jpg from Save As type drop down menu
- Save to a directory on your hard drive or desktop
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are the minimum image specs for full bleed images:

PocketBook: 7.5”x5.75” @ 200dpi = 1500 x 1150 pixels

Classic Hardcover: 10.75”x8.5” @ 200dpi = 2150 x 1700 pixels

Deluxe Hardcover: 14.25” x 11.125” @ 200dpi = 2850 x 2225 pixels

And these are the ideal specs:

PocketBook: 7.5”x5.75” @ 300dpi = 2250 x 1725 pixels

Classic Hardcover: 10.75”x8.5” @ 300dpi = 3225 x 2550 pixels

Deluxe Hardcover: 14.25” x 11.125” @ 300dpi = 4275 x 3338 pixels

As long as the image meets the minimum specs and doesn't radically exceed the max, your images should print fine.

Also don't worry if your images are not full bleed. BookMaker will size the image to the target resolution at any given size.

--- USING PHOTO EDITING SOFTWARE ---------------------

If you are using photo editing or photo management software to create or adjust your images, here are some tips:

~ Use sRGB or RGB when enhancing photos.
~ Use sRGB or RGB for black and white photos also
~ Do not use CMYK, it will distort your images.
~ Remove vectors, slices or layers from your images
~ Our press does not recognize grayscale. You need to create the jpegs in sRGB or RGB.

~ Our color profile is closest to Adobe 98
~ Our press prints 175 lpi (lines per inch)

IMPORTANT: Please allow 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch around all sides of your jpeg image to allow for the cropping. Without this allowance, any text or image placed at the edges of the jpeg will be cut off when the book is printed.

Best Regards,
