Here is an email I sent Tech Support regarding a problem with a book I was making. They seem to think it is a corrupt program but I duplicated it on my laptop with a clean install and no connection to the problem exported/imported book. Has anyone had a problem like this or an idea on how to save my hours and hours of work creating this new book from an exported file.

Thanks in advance

Joanne

I have finally figured out what is happening with all this. The program is not corrupt it just has a limitation that causes all this to happen.> > > > Let me explain what I did to discover this. > > > > 1. I created a book from scratch on a freshly installed Bookmaker program on my laptop. (all previous versions, dime files etc. were gone) and a new program downloaded and installed. I called this "Book A".> > > > 2. I exported this book and called the dime file "Exported A".! I saved it on my desktop.> > > > 3. I deleted "Book A" from B! ookmaker then imported "Exported A". It opened up just fine as "Book A".> > > > 4. I deleted dime file "Exported A!> " from my desktop.> > > > 5. I added 10 more pictures to "Book A" and saved it as "Book B". > > > > 6. I then exported "Book B" and saved it as a dime file called "Exported B" on my desktop. > > > > 7. I deleted "Book B" from bookmaker.> > > > 8. I imported the dime file "Exported B" hoping it would open up as "Book B", but when it opened it was "Book A" again. > > > > This is exactly what was happening to me with all these emails. I was working on an imported book, making changes, saving it under a new name and then exporting it to open on my laptop so I could show a co-worker at work the book I was making for her. Each time I opened this dime file on the laptop, it all came up as the old, originally imported book. Now, the question is this. If I upload this changed, imported dime file book (Book B) in my example above, which book will it upload? Book A or Book B? Th! at is what I need to know because Book B has 100 pages and 300 pictures that I would rather not recreate aga!> in.> > > > Please ask your programmers what will happen if I u!> pload th> is file and is there a way to test this to see what uploads before I actually pay for the book? I would be most grateful if you would do some checking before you get back to me on this. As you can see, I have spent several hours working on this problem and it will be worth it if I do not have to recreate this book again. Thanks

Hi Joanne,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with importing and exporting. If we could take a look at your dime file, we may be able to figure out what is happening. Somebody from customer service will be contacting you directly shortly.

Great Customer Service from MYPUBLISHER.COM

I got a call today and was given a very easy solution to this problem, which I understand will be fixed in the next version of Bookmaker.

The problem was that the xml file from the old book was being copied into the new export file. We had to go in and delete the xml file.

Thanks again!

Joanne

I imported a file that I spent a lot of hours on doing a 100-page photo album. I had to export/import as the other computer needed to be reformatted for some other issues. I did some changes to the imported file and saved it. When I tried to purchase the book, it crashed with the following error:

Failed to save book file: "C:\Users\Airnarf\AppData\Roaming\MyPublisher\BookM aker\GAF8449B8_2EC3_41D0_4FB9_19EC64089D36\GAF8449 B8_2EC3_41D0_4FB9_19EC64089D36.xml".
Book "......." cannot be saved.

Can somebody please help? I e-mailed "customerservice@mypublisher.com" but has not gotten a response yet. It's frustrating as I really want to print the book and give it to several family members as a present not counting the fact that I already spent a lot of hours doing the album. Also, the special offer of 50% off is expiring soon. I hope somebody can help.

Thanks,
Carlos

Hi,

A tech support/developer contacted and helped me resolve my issue and I am really happy with the support that I got. My 10-year old daughter is working on her first book and would work on another 100-page book for her 2nd degree black belt testing in Tae-Kwon-do. Looking forward to making more books through MyPublisher.

Thanks again for your excellent support.

Cheers!
