problems with scanning

I am making a book for a friend, and I'm scanning pictures. I scanned a 4x6 black and white photo to use for the book jacket, full bleed, and when I organize the photos, and place this photo on the jacket, this photo appears so big, it won't fit on the cover, i.e., only 1/3 of the picture appears in the space. What am I doing wrong? In previous photobooks I've made, I was working with pictures from my camera, and never had a problem...any help would be appreciated, I'm dealing with a time crunch.......thanks

You can set your scanning software to scan at a lower resolution, or you can change the size in your editing software. MyPublisher wants a minimum of 180dpi. They print at 300dpi. I like to go into PhotoShop and change the resolution to 300, but at the same time, adjust the size for the output size. Hope this helps.
