From Help, Preparing Your Photos, Digital Camera Settings:

We recommend using photos taken with digital cameras that are greater than 2 mega-pixels and less than 7 mega-pixels. (Images from 5 mega-pixel digital cameras produce the best results.)

NOTE: Photos taken with a 7 mega-pixel or greater digital camera may print blurry and/or pixilated. We do not recommend you use these photos in the BookMaker software unless they are reduced to a lower pixel setting.

Is this still true? In 2008, it seems a bit absurd. It's difficult to find a digital camera that shoots at 7mp or less. My 20D (3 years old) does 8mp and my next camera will do over 10mp. You may scare me to a competitor who doesn't make this kind of recommendation. I've looked at the competitors (for a portrait format book), everyone seems to use the same press, mypublisher is the only one who makes this kind of recommendation.

I have done several books (full bleed 8.5 × 11) without resizing with great results. Resizing is time and effort. It's not just a case of resizing. You need to sharpen again after resizing. Disk space ... one version for mypublisher, one version for the web, one version for printing at home. Pain in the butt.

I don't really want to change from mypublisher. I have had good results with you.

What gives?

Thank you for the post. I was going to post the same query. I was extremely surprised to see this statement made by Mypublisher. My lowest MP camera is 10MP.
Shouldn't a higher dpi give sharper images. How can higher dpi cause grainy or blurry images?
Its befuddling.
