I used a template which had a full-page image space, dropped the JPEG from PS into it and just left the text boxes blank - this worked just fine.

If you click in preview you will also see the text box outlines go away and look more like the final printed book. These boxes themselves are not printed and are just visual aids as to where you can enter text.

Thanks. I was not sure about that text box. It shows up in my preview. I thought it was really just a guide but it did not go away so I wanted to make sure. Thanks for the help. Gina

There are some cases, but not many when they are there for stylisitc reasons. If you are seeing the boxes in preview then that is one of the boxes that will show!
All the boxes that will disappear will no longer be seen in preview. The disappering ones also stand out by having a green border when in Make Book mode.
The default page layout for a cover is probably not what you want. Go to your cover and choose page layout at the bottom. Choose one of layouts that have a full page photo and green text boxes overlapping the photos. You will see no boxes with these and you can confirm this in preview. If you are making a best seller book choose one of the last two layouts in the second row from the top.
