View Full Version : Wrapping my brain around this...

I've been getting emails from MP since its inception and almost made a book a few years ago, downloaded the software - but could not wrap my head around the photo editing part of it, got overwhelmed and deleted it all. But I have been rolling this over in my mind the whole time (It's an amazingly fantastic idea!).

I'm about to move overseas and the security of my digital photos seems so vulnerable left in digital format and I would really like to get at *least* my favorites into a stable format. Not to mention printing off extras for family gifts ;)

I use photoshop and am somewhat familiar (but by no means an expert) with it and dpi and pixels etc. and the MP seems (via the how-to video) to have vastly improved over the years in user friendliness.... but I'm still stuck on what ratios I should use for just about everything.

Someone earlier asked if you could move the picture around to center/crop it in the placement window - if you can't, that would be a feature that would be awesome, that way it wouldn't distort an image that was a little too wide etc.

So, is there a list of ratios for all of the types of pictures? How do you do it on the other types, like the ones that are framed in circles?

Okay, so basically what I'm saying is... am I missing a guide on this? I thought I'd looked around, but I'm still left feeling daunted and like I want to put this off for another...... but I really don't want to!

My way of dealing with book layout is to layout a full page in Photoshop and using the full bleed option in MP, thereby, jumping over the layout portion of the software. You can lay your images over the color of your choice with the border of your choice, all done in Photoshop @ 1200 x 1600 pixels. I have no clue why MP CHANGED from the 1530 x 2040 size. That REALLY screwed me over, as I had edited new images for a new book and need to do them ALL OVER AGAIN 'cause some nitwit decided to alter the software.
