Hello. I am working on a family album using photos starting when my grandparents got married to the present. It will be a Christmas gift for my grandparents. About 1/4 of those photos are black & white. I love sepia photos and thought it might be nice to make them all sepia. But I'm not sure if that's what would look best. What do you think will look nicer in the book-black & white or sepia? Has anyone ever printed sepia photos before? I just need some advice/suggestions.
Also, if I do these black & white, are there any tips on scanning these photos and saving them? Should I save them as grayscale or RGB or CMYK?
Thank you so much!

Thanks so much for all your help and suggestions! As usual, Cruiser, you have been a big help! And don't worry-I won't wait til the last minute to get these printed. I am not a procrastinator, thank goodness.
I have a CanoScan 8800 that I just got because my Epson scanner broke. I have to say it's not as good as my Epson was but it does okay. A lot of my old pictures has this weird blue graininess in the scans (that's not on the original) and I have played with the settings and nothing seems to help. It usually shows up in dark areas of the photo. So in addition to editing the stains/tears in the photos I have to fix the blue graininess, too. It's a real pain. Have you ever heard of a scanner doing that?
Anyway, thanks again for all the suggestions! It's very much appreciated!

jkarar, mypublisher says to use RGB to have it turn out right. I am going to trust them on this. To get rid of a strange color hue, just desaturate.
I love the sepia coloring. But this is a personal preference. I make a layer above the image, fill it with dark brown, so all I see is brown, then chang this brown layer mode to "Color". It makes a beautiful sepia. You can play around with different colors. If you want all the images to look the same, you may want to desaturate first. You may know all this already.
If you want to know what looks best, try both ways and compare. It is a personal preference issue. I use sepia and am happy with it. I also use B&W. For some photos of Tucson, I used a golden hue.
Just experiment and have fun with it.
