I followed the directions on the website for the image size on a classic hardcover book. It says the photos should be 11.33 X 8.5 at180 DPI. So, that's how I created my pages. However, when I drop them into BookMaker it chops off part of the margin on the left and right sides. The top and bottom look correct, but I am missing a good bit of picture on the sides. When I go to "enhance photo," it looks perfect - all of the image is inside of the blue box. I've even zoomed out a bit and then clicked on "Auto Fit." But still when I go back to the book view, my image is chopped off on the sides. I need to know if that's how it's going to print. If it's going to print that way, then I need to know the proper dimensions so that my pictures don't have anything chopped off.

Through experimenting with different margin settings in my graphics program (I use Photoshop CS2), I have found that a left and right margin of .75" works best for the Bookmaker layout.

Even though the margins are the same on either side, Bookmaker appears to allow a bit more room for the binding edge, so the opposite edge might look a little tight. It's fine for me because it makes the page creation in Photoshop easier since I can use one template instead of having left and right templates for facing pages, which makes for easier organization if I want to move pages around.

Correction: Left/Right margin should be .375", not .75"
