I am making a book using old and new pictures. Many of the old scanned pictures are not a "standard" size.

1. Do I need to make sure they conform to a 4x6 or 5x7 or something before importing it into MP? I'm using PaintShop Pro (Jasc) and I can't see how to change the actual SIZE of the picture.

2. If you import a nonstandard size pic into MP, will it STRETCH the picture to fit the box so that it is distorted? If not, will it allow you to move the picture around so you can get the crop you want?

3. I also have some digital pix that I always have to crop significantly when I'm printing a 4x6 photo. On these digital pix, should I crop them before importing, or can I just drop them in the box and crop on the spot in MP?

Any help appreciated. I'm a total newbie and Im' really spinning my wheels over here!

Thanks so much.

You should scan the images at the largest size (one per page) that you'd use in the book.

These are the minimum sizes in pixels for a full page image in each book:

- Paperback PocketBooks: 1500x1150 pixels
- Classic Hardcover Books: 2150x1700 pixels
- Deluxe Hardcover Books: 2850x2225 pixels

If the images are a different shape (aspect ratio) than the book, then you may want to create a file using a third party image editor using the above specs, then drop the scanned image into this file. This will ensure that the images you scan are not cropped in BookMaker.

BookMaker's cropping tools should do the trick if you want to make further edits.
