So the page is actually 11.08 x 8.58 inches for a classic album before cut off?

So say if I make pages as I would for an album where photographs are stuck onto pages in say dg foto art, or page gallery.

Then all i need to do is bring these images into photoshop resize to fit canvas size 11.08x8.58 say 350 dpi and then make sure nothing important is in the 1/8 inch from edge and 1/2 inch from binding. This would be done by adding extra background and cloning other graphics. So 11.08 x 8.58 is the size before cutting etc. done.

When I drag this into the page of the mypublisher software should it fit perfectly first time without zooming? or do I need to zoomout? Do I zoomout until I get a little bit of white? do I then zoomin 1 or leave it like that?

I had used 11.33x8.5 and found I had to zoom out and even then could move the image across. Is there any need to do this using the 11.08x8.58 size?

Does this make sense?

Once I get the answer I can finish the album I've spent hours working on.

Many thanks

Thanks,

so I've got 1/2" at binding edge and 1/8" on other sides that can be cropped.

How do I then bring these into the mypublisher software so that they print right or do I do nothing? I find I can zoomout a couple of rotches and just have a tiny white boarder top and bottom, but can still move the image left and right.

Does this give me the final look of the page with the 1/2" and 1/8" not visble? or is this going to be cropped in the final book?

Thanks

Right here we go.

Initially I've created the pages using dg foto art.

I've then imported these flat files into photoshop. The canvas has been 11.33 x 8.5. I included a layer that blanks out the 1/2 at the binding end and 1/8 the rest. The page is then adjusted so it looks right. I then hide the blanking out layer and use clone, paintbrush etc. to fill in the space around the original page (mostly block colour or line).

If the cutoff is from what you see at the preview then my original size is wrong. As you said much more accurate in photoshop. The file should just fit snugly onto the page, but mine doesn't as I said even with a slither of white top and bottom I can still move it left and right without seeing white.

Seems so easy to me. Create a page that is the same size as is printed before cuttoff taking into account the cutoff. This should just drop straight into the software with no need for adjustment. Aggggh.

I'm sure I'll get this soon.

Thanks again

Will try that size.

The dg foto art is a page creation software (multiple images) it might be black, white or other colours. Thats why I take it into photoshop and add the 1/2" and 1/8" and then fill the space.

I design leaflets etc. and find it easy to create knowing original size cutoff etc. Full bleed. So hoping it's that simple.

I'll give it a go now.

Which mode should I use to position a page image in mypublisher software.

Should I use the one that looks like a book, or the one when you double click on that page (or click the enhance photo button)? Both show the page differently. With my current pages the book one looks fine but the other has a gap either side of the page image.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Ok,

But do you do the move adjustments in the book mode or the adjust image mode as the borders seem to differ.

Thanks.

You can't do anything in the Make Book mode except drag your picture into the mold. Click on the picture once it is on the full bleed page. You should see some adjust options across the bottom of the picture screen. Choose Zoom In or Auto Fit.

Are you on a Mac or a PC? All of my instructions are intended for the PC version.

yes thats what I mean by the book mode.

If you double click or click the enhance button you get another view of a page (doesn't show the book) showing different gaps at either end. Any ideas which is the most accurate.

Thanks again.

Cruiser,
You seem to know what you're doing by the number of posts that you have made to help others out. Unfortunatly most of them all say "deleted" so I'm not able to do much research to the answers. Could you tell me of a guide or quality post that may explain start to finish how to set up and publish pages made in photoshop? Something that would include standardized info on page sizes, cropping, 2 page landscape layouts, dpi, etc.?
Thanks,
