If I have a photo that is a full page on the left and then continues over half of the right page, how much blank space should I leave so that it flows evenly without losing some of the photo in the center?

I just experienced this issue with a book that I ordered. I did not order the deluxe album.

What I found is that I needed about 1/3" to 1/2" of whitespace on each page to get it closer to a smooth flow across the pages.
