...added scrapbook embellishments (i.e. stickers, rub on transfers, ribbons, etc) to the pages? I found some really nice text stickers that I thought might enhance my pages, especially in places where I want giant, fancy fonts. Just wanted to see if anyone else has already done this and if so how did you like the way it turned out?

What about keeping a couple pages blank so that you can add momentos such as a birth announcement, invitations, etc? Or would that create too much bumpyness within the book?

I am in the process of making a book of my daughter's first year so I'd really like to include these things but only if it's going to look good. What do you all think?

Thanks!

I have not done any of what you mentioned.

I have ordered 2 books (8.5*11 size) so far, and my opinion is that the pages are not thick enough to support scrapbook kind of embellishments. I think, anything with pins etc will start to damage the pages in the long run. Just thought I would pass on my thoughts.

Overall I have been very impressed and satisfied with the quality and price of this site.

Good luck.

Thank you for your response! I definitely wouldn't be adding any pins or anything really bulky. Sounds like the idea of adding cards is out if the pages are thin like you describe. However, the stickers that I have are super thin so that might still work (maybe?).

Strickers would not be a problem.

The pages are not very thick, but not very thin either. So if there are no pins, then even cards may work.

You can do this using Photoshop, Elements, Power Point or any editing software that allows you to create layers and save as .jpegs. Look at some of the books in the Scrapbook section of this forum. Marti makes great scrapbooks using Power Point. I prefer Photoshop and others use Scrapbook Factory. None are hard to use but it does take some time and you need to download elements and backgrounds from various locations on the internet.

The pages in your Classic or Deluxe are not really thick enough to make into a scrapbook. And, blank pages left in will also leave blank text boxes and blank captions in. When you order your book, you get a choice to leave blank pages in but it might make a mess of your book.

"blank pages left in will also leave blank text boxes and blank captions in"

Uh Oh, I have a few pages where I chose a layout that includes a text box but I didn't actually put any text in it. I just liked these layouts better in some instances (baby girl book). When I look in preview I don't see any empty text boxes...will the outlines really show up when printed? Or did I misunderstand you?

When you go to Purchase, you will get a message about blank pages. Make sure you click to delete them. That takes care of all empty text boxes, molds, pages, etc. If you don't delete them, you might have spaces in your book. That is what I have been told.

No either way it won't print spaces. :)

Why not scan the birth announcement and include it as a photo?

Be careful when deleting pages. Not only may you unmatch your nice two page layouts, but when a right side page becomes a left side one, or vice versa, all your photos flip right for left and left for right, no longer matching captions. Text flips too, right column becomes left and left right, so they are out of order. Not cool.
