View Full Version : Does FedEx delivery require someone to be present to sign for package?

I just purchased my first mypublisher book. I utilized overnight FedEx shipping due to a family event coming up next weekend. I had the book shipped to our home address.
However, I was wondering if someone needed to be at home when the FedEx guy comes in order to sign for the package. Or will the FedEx guy leave the package on the doorstep without a signature?
No one is home during the day, so I want to make sure that the package is still delivered.
If they need a signature - is there a form that can be filled out and left for the FedEx driver authorizing him to leave the package?
Also - will mypublisher provide me with a FedEx tracking number to track the delivery of my package?
Thanks,
~ Caryn

Hi Caryn - your PhotoBook is at the cutting station right now, so there is no shipping number yet. It will be emailed to you as soon as it ships. Don't forget - PhotoBooks take 1-4 business days to create, then the overnight shipping on top of that. Your order was placed on 3/29, so this is only the first business day. That being said we are typically ahead of shchedule so I bet it will go our by tomorrow (don't quote me on that though!!)
Sincerely,
MyPublisher

Thanks for replying to my message, but your reply doesn't really answer my question.
I wasn't concerned about when it was going to be mailed - I had already calculated enough time to allow for 1-4 days printing, plus the overnight shipping, since the family event isn't until this coming weekend.
My concern, and what I asked in the question, is whether or not the FedEx delivery requires a signature upon delivery. The reason this is an issue is that no one will be home during the day to sign for the package when it is delivered (regardless of what day it is delivered - because we work).
I can call FedEx, but I already know the response they will give me - it all depends on what option the sender checks for Residential Delivery options - no signature required, direct signature required, or indirect signature required.
So my question to Mypublisher is - what FedEx Residential Delivery option do you select when overnighting my package, whenever it's finished printing?
I would like to request that No Signature Required is chosen, so that the package can be delivered even when no one is home.
Thanks,
~ Caryn

It's residential deliver so no signature is required.
