why are my quotation marks showing up as @ in the shared version?

Hi,
Why does the preview version look different from the shared version?

In my BookMaker version, my quotation marks ( " ) look fine.
They look as intended in the BookMaker "preview" version, too.
However, in the shared version sent to friends for proofing, the ( " ) show up as @.

My questions:
1. Which version is more like the REAL book I'll be receiving?
2. What can I do to ensure that my quotations will be bracketed by quotation marks in the printed book?

p.s. I am using Palatino Linotype, font size 12 through most of the text.

Hmm I'm not sure what happened. Can you type for me exactly what you put in BookMaker so I can take a look on my end? I'd assume what you see is what you will get...
