I think I am ready to through my computer out the window. My dad?s 70th birthday is next week. I have spent weeks putting together a book for him for his 70th birthday party. And I can?t upload the book to purchase it. I have been e-mailing with customer service for a week and I have tried everything from updating the software, to uninstalling virus programs, to removing all my security, to deleting photos, to decreasing photos etc. etc. And I still get the same error. ?Failed to generate book for upload.? What next. PLEASE HELP! I just want to get this book to my dad next week. Now I have to figure out how I can get this book to me in 5 days!!! I am soo ready to just cry.

I received this error tonight as well. While the "Help" section on the mypublisher site lists this error, it only talks about exporting the book to move on a CD - which I am not doing - I am trying to PURCHASE the book. Here is the log file if it helps:

Exporting the book and then trying it another computer with a fresh install of version 2.3.0.2650 does not allow me to import it. I receive the following error:
Failed to parse the book DIME package.
The log file doesn't tell me much - is there a way to tell what item or items are corrupt? I really don't want to have to recreate this book from scratch. This will be my 8th book and I know how to create them - I follow all the requirements, however it would be nice to be able to just replace what is failing.

Hello - I am sorry you received these errors! I have to find out from our developers what the potential problem could be.

Any word on this from the developers????
After trying everything people mentioned in the "Trouble uploading with 2.3" thread - http://community.mypublisher.com/jiveforums/thread.jspa?threadID=1807&tstart=0 and a lot more, including uninstalling and reinstalling, I have found a workaround in the meantime - no help to myflublisher...
I installed myflublisher on another PC. Since I couldn't import the book, I copied the all of the files and folders from the PC that couldn't upload the book to the PC where I just installed myflubisher.
COPIED FROM --> C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\MyPublisher\BookMaker.
Now, while I copied all of files and folders, I DIDN'T copy all of my previous book project folders which are typically titled like "G25EALB5A_299F_349B_AF8F_92A55B0EE739". I knew which book to copy because it had the most recent modify date - plus you can go into these folders and view the photos to make sure you are copying the correct book.
To everyone looking for an alternative for myflubisher, try http://www.blurb.com. I recently purchased a small book just to test the process, and it was MUCH smoother. The software wasn't buggy, and it's footprint was a lot smaller both disk space and RAM-wise.
Good luck everyone....

If you read the Blurb forum, they are having problems too.

Fortunately, that's not me!
And still NO response from the "developers"...I've even provided their own logs to them. What more do I have to do?
Oh well I am still batting a 1.000 here - two questions - and NO answers.

Hello - I am really sorry you are having trouble uploading, but it sounds like your file is corrupted. I can email you offline and you can upload it to me to an FTP site so I can take a look at it.
Sincerely,

I am having trouble too. I shared the book to my client to get approval, and when she approved it I went to purchase... I cannot get back into any account to make an edit or purchase.. I started with customer service yesterday... I have already printed books with Shutterfly and I LOVE the book, but it was expensive. So here we are now.. spend more money and get a book I love, or spend my valuable time waiting on cs reps to try to figure out what the issue is...
Good luck

My experience was that the page would not upload either. It would just hang after I clicked "purchase" then checked off disclaimer boxes, then the page would go non-responsive and I'd have to end task. The first time I tried to purchase, I spent 3 hours checking my PC settings, versions of this browser and that, but could never fix it that way. SO frustrating!
I found a crazy workaround, but it does the trick every time for me now. When you're ready to purchase, go to "share" first and email the book (to yourself, a friend, whatever.) For me, the "share" page immediately starts to upload as it should. Once that's done, I go immediately back to my book (click "make book"), hit "purchase", and it goes to the upload process without problem or delay.
Again...I don't know why sharing the book first makes the upload work, but for me it does. I've ordered and re-ordered a couple of times in the last 2 weeks with no problem if I do it this way. Hope this saves someone else some frustration!!!

Did you upload the book with the link I provided you with? You didn't send me an email letting me know :)

Hi Everyone - just wanted to follow up on the forum poster's issue after reviewing his book file. Here's the outcome:
So, using your book file we were able to get to the bottom of your problem. The issue is the images that appeared to be scanned in - the 8x10 images that are 1258dpi! This is HUGE! It actually makes for images that are 12584x10067. This is way too large for us. That would print a good image at about 7 feet by 5 feet! So, long story short, if you resize those images to be a bit smaller, we recommend no larger than 4275 x 3338 for a deluxe size book, you will be just fine.
I hope this helps others!
Sincerely,
MyPublisher
