View Full Version : Tips for full page of text Image?

I need to insert a full page of text and the "Full Text" page does not allow it all to fit. I think if the text block went all the way up into the title section, it would work.

I decided to try and create the text page in Photoshop and insert it into a full bleed image page.

In the BookMaker software the text does not look as crisp in the images. I was wondering if anyone else has done this and if they have any tips to make the text a clear and crisp as possible. I created the image as a 350 dpi JPG with black background and white text.

Any suggestions as to the minimum font size, font settings, etc?

Thanks

It is truet hat text as an image will not be as crisp as the text that you type directly in. You wll probably have to use a slightly larger font size. I am sorry for any inconvenience.

I also have a question regarding text on the page.

I am creating my large book pages in photoshop at 300dpi at 14.627"x11.327" as indicated on your forum. The first page that I crated has text and images on it. The text is fairly large and is crisp and clear when viewed in photoshop. However, when imported into BookMaker it turns blurry and pixelated.

How accurate is the preview in BookMaker when you import your images as far as showing the resolution of the final product? Is what you are viewing in BookMaker a good representation, or will it come out clear when the book is printed? I am noticing as well that the image itself is not as clear as it is when viewed in photoshop.

Here is a link to a very old post. It helped me create pages in Photoshop that printed out beautifully.

MyPublisher does such a beautiful job with printing text, that I think I would like to stick with theirs. I have done quite a bit of full text editing, trying to make things fit. Usually, I can do it by changing the size of the font, or the font itself. I also reword things to be more concise and switch words around, so as not to have a long word that wraps and leaves a big space at the end of a line.
I like the fact that MyPublisher does not give enough choices to allow me to muff it up, like putting red text on blue background, or some such foolish thing. I had been concerned about using their smallest text sizes on some pages, but my worry was needless.
Has anyone seen their white text on black? I am planning to use this in my current book. How does it look?

I can personally attest to the fact that generally it looks great. I'd shy away from the script fonts - like MP Peony, and don't go with too small a point size...personally I think 14 point works quite nicely.

I understand that text as an image is not going to be as clear as if I were to type it into the BookMaker program. The text I created in Photoshop is large (the smallest being 65pt and the largest being 250pt) and has a drop shadow effect on it to help stand out from the background. My concern is that when I import it into the BookMaker program it does not preview as clear as it does in Photoshop. So, I'm just curious how accurate the resolution is in the BookMaker program.

For example, when I import my 300dpi image into the BookMaker program and use the zoom feature the resolution is very low on the text and the image. When I zoom into the same image in Photoshop the resolution stays crisp and clear.

When I place my order for my book am I going to get the crisp clear version that I see in Photoshop, or am I going to get the poor resolution version I see in BookMaker?

Generally it should be crisp and clear. However without seeing the actual file it is difficult to tell. We don't get any real complaints about this though.

Cruiser, will you please repost that old post? I tried to click on the link but it does not work. I'm just starting on a book and need all the help I can get! I had planned on doing my own text in PSCS3 along with photos but now I'm having doubts of the quality.

Thanks.

I too would like to view that link as well. I'm creating a book that is heavier on text than anything I've created before. I'm telling my husband's and my story of how we met and all. So I'm interested in the text options of MP for the first time.

Hi everyone,

As a safety measure, you can use the 'Share' feature to create a version of your book that can be viewed on our website to check your font. In a way, this is like an 'ultra-preview' because unlike viewing in the software's 'Preview' mode, this ‘Share’ file goes through the same processes on our side that a printed book would. But instead of the resulting file being sent to our press, it's sent to the website.

To do this, click the ‘Share Book’ button. Then, enter your email address as the sole recipient. In about 30 minutes, the instructions to view the book will be sent to your inbox.

Hope this helps!

Best Regards,

MyPublisher
