View Full Version : MyPublisher plugin doesn't work with iPhoto 8??
Hi there
Is it still true that the MyPublisher plugin does NOT work with iPhoto 8?
Is there any work around to this?
I created a book and want to print it!! :-(
After you have installed iPhoto 8, I assume there is no way to go back to iPhoto 7- right? My computer came pre-installed with iPhoto 7 so I don't have the disk for that.
Thanks.
Also, any idea when the plugin for iPhoto 8 might be available? Soon? Never?

We will not be offering the plug in for iphoto 08 - I am sorry.
So it is possible for you to say why you have decided not to support it for newer versions of iPhoto? Is there some technical issue with getting the plugin to work with iPhoto 8? Will Apple not allow it or something?
For those of us that use iPhoto to create photobooks, and prefer your service to Apple's, this is a big disappointment.
This was such a nice feature.

I am sorry - there is...the problem with iphoto 08 is they have new books and new products that we don't produce here in out production facility. When we offered similar problems we could print them, but now we can't. I am very sorry. We are developing lots of new features for BookMaker Mac though!
I did create a book and printed it with the MyPublisher BookMaker software.
It came out nice and I am happy with it.
But, it was definitely more work than using iPhoto and using the MyPublisher plug-in.
For example if I imported a picture into BookMaker and discovered it had red-eye, I had to go back to iPhoto, fix it there, reimport etc. Or, if I wanted to adjust pictures after I imported them I had to go back and forth. It was a bit of a nuisance (for a 100 page book with hundreds of photos).
Although I was happy with the book, I think in the future I will save myself a lot of time and just use iPhoto and Apple to print.
The plug-in was great! I hope you guys change your mind in the future, and support its use for iPhoto8 for the products you sell.
Thanks!

I'm VERY dissapointed as well that iphoto 8 is not compadible w/ my publisher. Apple and My publisher REALLY need to work together to make this happen. Nothing is impossible!

Thank you MyPublisher for the clear explanation... it makes sense to me... it is kinda like asking Mercedes to build a better Volvo... so thank you for the "software" to download (2.1 mac) and for offering an option to iPhoto08... i inJOYed the interface you have provided to us Mac users who have the BEST operating systems out there... in a perfect world, we would all have Apple products... but then we wouldn't be sooo special now... hehehe...

I just finished my photo book in iphoto08, took me ages, only to find out that the plugin doesnt work anymore :(.
I already ordered one book on mypublisher.com last year, it was great, but then I was using the previous version of iphoto.
Why can't you just update the plug-in? I dont know what to do, cant really recreate the book in bookmaker, the layout just isnt the same and I want to have it just the way I did it in iphoto. Isnt there a way of accessing the photobook data from iphoto7 and then import it into bookmaker? or exporting it via pdf and sending it to mypublisher?
it's a shame you dont do the plugin anymore... :(
or I shouldnt have updated my iphoto.....

YES YOU CAN USE iPhoto 8.0
Think outside the box... You do all the work in iPhoto 8.0. Print the book out of iPhoto with The pdf option. Then either bring it into Acrobat or another Pdf app that will sep the pages out as single pages. Or you can Print/PDF Option out of iPhoto into 1 page per photo layout. Then Start the Mac MyPublisher Application. Choose 1 Photo per page Option and drop in the full page pictures with full bleed. This works just fine and I've done it with MyPublisher a few time already, and even others who also don't support iPhoto At All.
This is how its done anyway when iPhoto does the upload of the files.
It's worth the trouble, and the files come out of iPhoto Full Rez.
