Hi there,

I replied to the discussion on Europe and tax but thought I better post my own message in case it is missed.

I just ordered what is probably our 10th book from my publisher and have received an invoice for VAT for the first time. I was wondering if previously the books were sent from within the UK. And if so, why were they sent from the US this time. It appears it does matter where you order the books as I contacted customs and they said that anything ordered internationally to the value of £18 or more is subject to tax.

I emailed 4 days ago to see if we can choose where the books come from but am yet to receive a reply. I have been very happy with mypublisher to date and am about to order another 6 books but won't if it means paying tax again.

Many thanks,
Jackie

Hi Jackie -

Thank you for being such a great customer. I wish I could tell you I know more about VAT but unfortunately it is a tax that is beyond our control. I've personally seen that it is arbitrarily applied. We ship all our PhotoBooks out of one facility, I checked your past orders as well. Our facility is in New York.

I hope this information is helpful.

Sincerely,
MyPublisher

hi there,

thank you for replying. i guess customs are finally going their job, not that I want them to with respect to this!

We are currently trying to upload a further 9 books but had trouble last night so will try again tonight. We'll just have to pay the additional VAT on these as well (the 50% off will help!).

Many tanks,
Jackie

HI Jahislop -

Keep trying back, in regards to your upload. We are experiencing extremely high volume at the moment due to the coupon expiration. Since you are in the UK, I recommend trying at a time when most of us in the US are sleeping :o) You will get through though!

Sincerely,
MyPublisher
