First, I'm am working so hard to learn about photo editing so please forgive me if I ask a stupid question. I really want my book to look beautiful. I am using Coral Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 and I think I'm figuring it out. I've been able to learn on my own quite a bit about editing with the software. I'm was having so much fun working on my book and photos but I can't figure out how to make layers. I've been studying so hard and still can't figure it out but, I think I figured out how to check my picture size and resolution. I am now freaking out because I read that photos are best set at 14.63 inches wide, 11.3 inches wide, 2633 pixels wide, and 2043 high. I checked my photos and some are set at 314 resolution and others at 72 resolution with width and height other than the recommended. Should I go through all my pictures and change every thing? I will if I need to. The pictures are coming out with a blue line around them but I want them to look there best. I really want to learn about photo editing but this is really frustrating. Thanks.

Hello - as long as there is a blue outline you should be fine - that being said, 314 resplution is fine. I'd recommend upping the 72 to the 314 if that is possible.Other than that, you should be all set honestly! You sound like you are on the right track.

Sincerely,

Hello Emptynester,
I realize this is dated, and you may have figured layers in PSP Photo X2, but I'm so excited to see that I'm not the only follower of Corel!

Go to Corel.com and watch the video about working with layers-- think sandwich. Each layer of a sandwich just makes it taste better. You don't have to work with layers at all-- I used the Effects Browser in PSP 8-10 only! Plus, before you save your work to .jpg, PSP 12 is going to tell you its merging (flattening) all layers.

Up at the menu bar, where it shows "Image..." If you click on that button, you see the drop down menu-- notice Resize Image and Resize Canvas. Make sure that your canvas is set to the image box dimensions (inside the blue lines) exactly. Next resize your image and/ or crop image so that it fits that canvas. You can't fail now!

You can select all the photos and do a Batch Edit, so that what you correct for one, will correct all in the batch you select.
You can do it and it's going to be GREAT!
Good luck, Jo
