View Full Version : Stuck on Optimizing photos - how do I isolate the problem image?

I'm having trouble with uploading - the process gets stuck at the optimizing photos stage, each time at photo 10 of 401. At the same time BookMaker goes into 'not responding' mode. I've read the threads related to this issue and they seem to point in the direction of making some change to the 10th photo or photos in that general area. I've verified that all my photos are jpeg RGB. Quite a few are sized rather large but none are over 10MB. So far none of my tweaking is working.

My questions are - how do I know which photo is the 10th photo? Is it in the order of the organize photos area or how they appear in the book? If it's the latter, does the count start with the jacket photos? Also, with multiple photos on the page, do they run in order of left to right, top to bottom?

Also, is it certain that the 10th photo is a problem or could it be a whole range of photos toward the beginning of the book? The previous responses aren't clear on that.

Thanks for any help. I've been working on this book for weeks - it would be terribly depressing to have that effort be a waste.

Hi Superkoi -
It can be anywhere from 1-10 photos. Photo count begins in the jacket. Is there anything different about those images?

Thanks - I found the location in the xml file for the book that has all the photos by number so I was able to figure out the sequence. After tweaking individual photos and having the optimizing process get hung up periodically on various images, I finally just exported the file (which required renaming to a shorter name in order to work), cleared all the mypublisher/bookmaker files and programs off my system and downloaded it fresh. After importing my book and initiating the upload process, I was thrilled to find that all the glitches were gone and the upload went really quickly (just about an hour for a 150MB book).

Thanks for replying so quickly, though. This was definitely an under the wire project.

Wow - that's quite technical. I'm glad you figured it out :)
