According to the help guidelines, we should directly type apostrophes, dashes, etc., into captions instead of pasting them from another program.

When typing in captions, can we use keyboard combinations to generate these characters in their correct forms? For example (in Windows): Alt+0146 for a "smart" apostrophe, Alt+0150 for an en dash.

Thanks for any guidance.

Let me clarify my question. If we do type a keyboard combination (like Alt+0146) into a caption and if the character is displayed correctly in BookMaker, will it print correctly in the book?

I ask because if you paste the same character from another program and confirm that it is displayed correctly in BookMaker, it nevertheless may not print correctly.

Hi Eric - the short answer is you can not. You can't use special characters in the text fields. Sorry about that.
