After scanning more than 100 images for my book, I read where there are certain recommendations for image DPI based on size of photos. How critical is this? My book is all ready to send in for publication.

Hi Paul -

Approximately how many DPI is each of your images? It's better to have a higher DPI than fewer, as it can effect the clarity of your images on the page. Give me a little bit more information about your file, and I'll give you my recommendation. However, if you have fewer DPI, depending on the type of PhotoBook your are creating and the size of the photo molds you are using, the resolution may or may not make any difference.

Sincerely,

Most of the photos were scanned at 600 DPI, some however would not scan above 300 DPI. I have lots of digital photos taken in high resolution; it's just the 20, 30 and 40 year old photos that I had to scan. Are 300 and 600 DPI okay?

Hi Paul - I believe 600 dpi should be OK. I have never tried with a file size over 300 dpi personally. .600 dpi is incredibly high resolution that is generally used for Line Art. I'd say give it a shot. I will be contacting you offline to follow up.
