A few people have written of scanning pictures at a certain DPI number. I have always scanned using pixels per inch. I usually scan at 300 because I have a 3 megapixel camera. Will my photos print clearly in a photobook at 300 pixels/inch?

You usually scan at 300 because I have a 3 megapixel camera? If you have a digital camera you shouldn't be scanning anything in. Your photo's are already digital.
DPI (dots per inch) and PPI have come to mean the same thing. One dot equals one pixel.
If you are scanning 300dpi (ppi) will print sharp. Exception: If you're increasing the size of your photo then it could look "soft" and/or slightly blurry. Increasing a photo from a wallet size or 4x6 to a full page will look pretty bad.

Thank you for letting me know that dpi is the same as ppi. That helps alot.
When my pictures go to my computer from my camera, I crop them and then save them at 300pixels/inch. I save them at 300 because I assume I can't save at more than 300 because I have a 3pixel camera. I may be totally off here....not sure. Then, when I scan a picture (an old photo), I crop it and then save it at 300 ppi. That's what I meant when I said I was saving at 300pizels/inch.
Thanks again for your response. Before I got an answer, I hoped for the best and ordered my book. I just got some today and the pictures turned out great. I saved them at either 4x6 or 5x7 size and all at 300 pixels/inch and they all were clear and looked great.
Thanks for your help.
