Fitting a vertical picture in a horizontal slot

There are a couple pages in my book where I'd like to fit a vertical pictures in a template with a horizontal slot. I can shift the picture to crop it appropriately using the arrows, but when I click away from the page and come back to it, it has moved back to the center.
Is there a way to fix this without cropping the picture before importing it to BookMaker?

The image should stay where you place it. Are you using BookMaker's ENHANCE tool?

I do not see an Enhance tool available on any of the menus. I'm using a Mac.

Looks like I got it to work.
When I use the arrow keys, it always reverts to the default position.
But if I use the mouse to drag it in place, it seems to stick.
Odd, but oh well.
