this is my first try at MP - a couple questions:
first, I too am having difficulty with the picture window on the deluxe cover. it does not allow me to click on page layout or to place picture in the box. There is a red line surrounding where the picture should go on the cover and I am definitely not in the photo jacket mode.
second, is there any way to put a border around the picture like in some other companies? I am doing an album for my sisters wedding using the storyteller book( so i can put more text) with a black background and would like to put a white border around some of the pictures.
third, is there any layout that allows the pictures to bleed together? I would like to put 2 pictures on a page and have them both bleed to the edge without a space between them.
last, I am placing 1 picture across a two page spread - I have it lined up perfectly but how much will I loose in the fold? Also, I am using a nine picture layout and placing one photo across the middle three picture boxes. In the preview it looks like just a small fine black line between the photos, but when you blow it up to the size of the book will it be a bigger space between the photos?

Thanks for all the helpful info. However, I am still having difficulty with the cover page. The picture I have placed will not fill the entire opening. I went back and made sure I was not in the jacket mode, The picture is placed off to the left with a small blue box to the right and a green box below the blue one. The page layout tab is not lit up and does not allow me to change anything. I would like to just put one picture to fill the entire opening. Any suggestions?
As for the 1/4" to 1/2 inch that I will loose on the two page spead - what do you suggest I do? Should I just pull the picture in a little on the inner side that connects to the spine? When the page is printed for binding do they allow excess for the binding or will I loose part of all my full page spreads?
I am almost ready for print but I need to finalize the front cover so if you could answere asap I would appreciate it.

You can try changing cover types using the book size & style pop up and changing it back to see if it triggers anything. I don't know why you can't click on it.
As for the gutter, yes templates account for the gutter for 1/4 inch. It's very difficult to tell exactly how things will line up, what I have seen people to is repeat about 1/4 of the image on both inside parts of the page so there is no blank space. It's very difficult and a bit of trial and error, which is why we don't officially support templates like that. Usually the outcome is that it "works" whether its 100% perfect it looks good unless you sit there scrutinizing it.
I hope this helps!
