View Full Version : "overseas" credit cards

I have a New Zealand billing address on my credit cards (because I live in New Zealand). Your system won't take my order. So I have to bother a friend with a U.S. address and write them a cheque if I want to use MyPublisher. Can you work on this, please? It's a VISA card, and it works on heaps of online sites, e.g. Amazon. Maybe you could find a better credit card processing service. If my first book turns out as well as I hope, I'll be ordering HEAPS more.

Same here, and greetings from Mexico...

How come your billing address pull-down menu only caters to specific countries? I guess it wouldn't have pissed me off to discover this fact if I hadn't already spent two hours of my time fine-tuning a book, only to learn, at the very tail end of the process, that I couldn't order it!

Perhaps you could fix the glitch, or if you choose to be picky about the countries you commerce with, perhaps you could place a CLEAR disclaimer at the beginning of the book assembly process.

My two cents,

Paco Ojeda

I actually had the same problem when a client of mine tried to pay me via PayPal (for something completely unrelated to a MyPublisher book). The shipping address was in the US but the billing address was in another country.

The charge was not authorized - a non-verified shipping address that's in a different country than the billing address is a huge red flag for credit card companies. It's often an indication of fraud. The problem is, when there are legitimate orders, they get caught up in it.

It's not necessarily a MyPublisher glitch or bug but, as you said, an issue with the card processor.

Even so, MyPublisher could notify users of the fact that their pulldown menu (regardless of what the card processors do or don't do) does not include certain countries.

And for those who are having the same problem, feel free to give Blurb a shot. (www.blurb.com). This competing book publisher eagerly accepted my Mexican address with a US shipping address without a problem.

Amazon.com, Adorama.com, two online stores from which I make purchases constantly in the same fashion, also have no problem with this.

Does anyone from from MyPublisher care to chime in?

Hi Paco -

I honestly don't know what our credit card authorization policy is, but I'll look into it and post back when I have an answer.

Sincerely,
MyPublisher
