Using Old and Damaged Photos

My sister and I are putting together a book for our parents as a Christmas surprise. We have found that some older photos are not coming out very clear after they have been scanned. Is there a way to clean them up so to speak on Mypublisher or will we have to do that before adding these photos to our book?

I would like to add this second question: Can I make my own background? For example, if I scanned an old letter or newspaper article, could that be used as a background for my pictures? Thanks for all the help!

You really should use a program like photoshop or one that is similar. The are a number of options to adjust the images for better quality. You can also make your own backgrounds but again the entire process should be done in a photo program. If you want to send me a sample image I will show you what can be done...
